Our Legislative Ministry Team serves as a visible force for social justice in the “public square.” As part of the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Rhode Island (UULM-RI) our activities include letter-writing campaigns, attending public hearings and rallies, and testifying at the State House.

We reach out to the congregation through Realm and the First U Times, providing information and encouraging members to contact their legislators on issues of common concern.

There are many ways to be involved in advocating for legislative action on issues in keeping with the Seven Principles and social justice statements

  • Contact your legislators at key times on emerging issues.
  • Build support by reaching out to others in the congregation and in the community, and through letters to the editor.
  • Join with coalition partners to attend rallies at the State House.
  • Attend public hearings and provide testimony.
  • Participate in UULM-RI legislative forums, letter writing campaigns, and meetings with legislators.
