The Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Rhode Island (UULM-RI)

The UULM-RI serves as a visible force for social justice in the “public square” of the members of the state’s five congregations: First Unitarian Church of Providence, Bell Street Chapel, Channing Memorial , Unitarian Universalist Congregation  of South County,  and Westminster Unitarian. Our activities include organizing letter-writing campaigns during coffee hours, attending public hearings and rallies, and testifying at the State House.

There are many ways to be involved in advocating for legislative action on issues in keeping with the Seven Principles and social justice statements:

  • Contact your legislators at key times on emerging issues.
  • Build support by reaching out to others in the congregation and in the community, and through letters to the editor.
  • Join with coalition partners to attend rallies at the State House.
  • Attend public hearings and provide testimony.
  • Participate in UULM-RI legislative forums, help to organize letter writing campaigns during coffee hours, and attend meetings with legislators.
