First U members to march to RI State House to deliver letters to legislators

As part of the Guns into Plowshares project, members and friends of First Unitarian will march to the Rhode Island State House on Tuesday, May 15, to meet with state legislators and deliver cards and letters from First Unitarian members and friends. The letters, written after the Mother’s Day church service that kicks off the Guns into Plowshares project, will specifically support three bills currently before the legislature to ban assault weapons in Rhode Island, keep guns out of our schools, and ban high-capacity magazines for guns.

The First Unitarian group plans to meet at the church at 3pm to walk to the State House. The church parking lot will not be available for parking due to building renovations. The group will join others at 3:30pm at the Smith Street entrance to the State House to speak with legislators, deliver the letters and cards from First Unitarian, and urge support of the three bills.
