Putting the Pieces Together Anew

We will explore in words and music the balance between grief and relief as we create a new life after loss.

Martha Rice Sanders joined First U Prov with her family when they moved to Rhode Island in 1993. Martha immediately joined the choir, and her sons went through the Religious Education program. First U is where she met Bill Rice, her husband of nearly 24 years. In addition to her work as a librarian, Martha’s passions include gardening, photography, reading, making and listening to music, biking, and visiting waterfalls.

Nancy Worthen began her journey into Unitarianism at the Westminster Unitarian Church in East Greenwich, where her daughter became active in the youth group. When she moved to Providence in 2006, she became a member at First Unitarian under the leadership of James Ford, who encouraged her to bring her daughter, who was severely disabled at the time. After her daughter died, Nancy participated in and led Mindful Grieving groups, which she will be leading again this fall. Besides making art, she enjoys gardening and contra dancing.

Music will be provided by vocal groups Sally Racket and The Grace Note Singers.

We worship in person in the Meeting House. If you cannot join us, click here to tune in to our YouTube channel at 10:00 am.
