Co-teachers Andrea Allgood and Erika Rusley will discuss how they integrate Jewish values and teaching with social justice and academic standards in their elementary school classroom at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island.
Erika Rusley is a First U member who teaches General Studies (Math, Literacy, Social Studies, and Science) at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island. She holds a Master’s degree and advanced certificates in education and has taught in a variety of K-12 educational settings, as well as in a Master’s Degree program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. She is currently enrolled in the Judaic Studies and Social Justice program at the University of San Francisco.
Andrea Allgood is a teacher of Judaic Studies at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island. She holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Religion from Yale Divinity School, a PhD in Religious Studies from Brown University, and teaching certificates from Brown University’s Sheridan Center. She teaches classes designed to teach elementary school students about the Hebrew Bible as well as Jewish holidays, history, values, and textual tradition.
