Rev. Liz will be taking her sabbatical from July 2022 to January 2023. Sabbaticals are built into the contract of ministers across many denominations, just as they are built in for academic professionals. These are times of rest and renewal, giving an individual time completely away from the regular responsibilities of their work in order to reflect and recharge. Rev. Liz’s agreement with our church calls for her to take a sabbatical after her fifth year of service. We very much encourage this time away, particularly after the stress and uncertainty of the past two years.

The Prudential Committee approved Rev. Liz’s sabbatical plan and has been engaged in planning with the Sabbatical Team, Rev. Liz, and First U staff to make sure everything at the church functions smoothly while Rev. Liz is away. As part of that, we have prepared a guide to help answer many of the questions you may have about this time. It provides information about sabbaticals in general, Rev. Liz’s specific plans, and resources that will be available.
